Draping and Clothing Options:

You will be covered by a sheet, towel and/or blanket during the session. You will undress to your level of comfort. If you are receiving any type of touch therapy, I will expose only the areas I am working on, and then cover the area up when I am done. You will find that my draping style is secure so that you feel safe and not exposed.

Communication is key:

It is up to you to stay quiet or talk during your session, however being quiet allows you to enjoy your treatment on a deeper level and provides you the opportunity to have a more profound process. Either way I will engage in conversation if you are unable to be silent and feel the need to talk. I will check in from time to time to make sure you are okay. I encourage that you do share when something is not comfortable or hurts during the session so that I can adjust the treatment.

What to expect after your treatment:

  1. Relaxation: Most people feel deeply relaxed after a massage, both mentally and physically. Your muscles may feel less tense, and your mind might feel calmer.

  2. Improved Circulation: Massage can help improve blood flow throughout your body, which may leave you feeling warmer or more energized.

  3. Soreness or Tenderness: Especially if it was a deep tissue or intense massage, you might feel some soreness or tenderness in the areas that were worked on. This usually subsides within a day or two.

  4. Increased Range of Motion: If you had tight muscles or joints before the massage, you might notice improved flexibility and easier movement afterward.

  5. Emotional Release: Sometimes massage can bring up emotions or memories. This is normal and often a sign that you are releasing tension and stress.

  6. Hydration: It's common to feel thirsty after a massage. Drinking water helps flush out toxins released from your muscles during the massage.

  7. Improved Sleep: Many people report better sleep quality after a massage, due to the relaxation and stress relief it provides.

Everyone reacts differently to massage, so your experience may vary. It's important to listen to your body and give yourself time to fully benefit from the effects of the massage

Massage flu or fatigue:

The term "massage flu" is sometimes used to describe a temporary set of symptoms that some people may experience after receiving a massage, particularly a deep tissue or intense massage. These symptoms can include:

  1. Soreness: Feeling achy or tender in the muscles that were worked on during the massage.

  2. Fatigue: Feeling more tired than usual, possibly due to the body's response to muscle manipulation and relaxation.

  3. Mild Malaise: A general feeling of discomfort or unease, similar to how one might feel with a mild flu.

These symptoms are typically transient and should resolve within a day or two. They are often a normal response as the body adjusts and heals from the physical manipulation during the massage. Here are a few tips to help alleviate these symptoms:

  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and rehydrate your muscles.

  • Rest: Allow your body time to recover and avoid strenuous activities immediately after a massage.

  • Gentle Movement: Engage in light stretching or gentle movements to promote blood circulation and ease muscle soreness.

If you experience severe pain, persistent symptoms, or any concerns, it's advisable to consult with me or a healthcare professional for further evaluation and guidance.
